Installing Google Analytics on Wordpress Blog
Are you using Wordpress for your marketing? Do you really know what posts are popular? Do you know what keywords brought visitors to your blog? How did your visitors get to your site?
A common mistake a new internet marketer makes is not gathering statistics about their blogs starting on day one. Getting feedback on what posts work, and what keywords are producing your traffic, allows you to focus on your markets desires, and target the proper offers for making real money.
The solution is to add Google Analytics to your Wordpress blog. With Google Analytics you will be able to track where your visitors come from by country (sometimes this is really eye opening), what browser they are using, how long they stayed on your site, and many other factors. You’ll also be able to see what sites sent you the traffic, if it is the search engines, the social bookmarking sites, another website, or even if people directly typed in your site’s URL. This information is critical to planning your future posts, and for determining where you need to promote your site.
Many people have not used Google Analytics since they are convinced they will need to put the code on every page of their blog. Luckily there is a great Google Analytics Plugin for Wordpress which will place the code in every post for you.
The plugin is very simple to install, here are the steps you need to follow :
- Login to your Wordpress blog to access your Dashboard.
- On left side, click tiny arrow on Plugins section then click ‘Add New’.

- Type ‘Google Analyticator’ on search box, hit ‘Search Plugins’ button. Click ‘Install’.
- Click ‘Install Now’ when description window appears.
- Wordpress will do the installation for you, don’t forget to click ‘Activate Plugin’
- Don’t close your blog, but now login to www.Google.com/analytics using your Gmail account. If you don’t have it, create it first.
- If this is your first time on Google Analytics, you have to fill the ‘New Account Signup’ form until you have this code on your screen. Copy the tracking code given :
Otherwise, just click ‘Add Website Profile’ on your existing Analytics account and you will find the tracking code after you type your URL.
- Back to your Wordpress, click ‘Google Analytics’ on Settings section. Make it enable, click the ‘Authenticate with Google’ link to make the stats appear on your dashboard and the last thing to do is… type your tracking code.
- Click ‘Save Changes’ on the bottom of your screen. Done! You will see your stats on your dashboard.
While Google Analytics is a great tool, it does have one minor issue for a marketer. The statistics are not real-time. If you start a new marketing campaign and were wanting to watch the statistics through the day, you cannot. You will need to wait until the next day to see your results.
The Google Analytics for Wordpress will give you the important information you need to monitor and market to your niche. Without accurate data, you are throwing darts blindfolded, with Google Analytics, you’ll have a laser focus, and start hitting the marketing bulls-eye.
